The strawberries are producing every day now. I try to leave the berries on the plants as long as possible to help get them fat and sweet. There are a few losses. One looked like a bird could not resist it and there were beak marks in it. Two or three have been eaten by [...] Not a bad haul. Late this evening as I was checking on the plants, I saw a ladybug, and had to come in the house for the camera. By the time I returned, she was gone. Next thing I notice is a bug in my hair. So I gently scoop it up and its the lady bug. She inspected [...] The snowpeas finally arrived all at once. From about 28 March until now, 80% of the growth took place. They seem to have exploded, and are already showing signs of stress. The heat is really tough on them. They are loaded up with sweet snowpeas, and I will enjoy them this week in salads. The [...] I took some time out to harvest a nice lunch on Saturday. The bright white things are Hakurei Turnips. |
