25 October – With most of the planting done, I decided not to do much in the garden today. I made a really big harvest of lettuce and another pound of green peppers. Then I made up some planted pots. I made the following: - a pansy and chives pot - a thyme, lettuce and chives pot - [...] When researching what kind of lettuce would grow in my area, zone 8, here in Charleston, I checked to see what advice the Clemson Cooperative Extension might have. They recommended loose leaf lettuces, like Buttercrunch and romaine. They also referenced a miniature loose leaf lettuce, Tom Thumb. I tried all three, plus [...] The summer garden has been reclaimed and combined with the newer fall garden area. As a result, many new seedlings for fall harvest are among some very large remnants from the summer garden. I let the bell peppers and one large Marigold plant remain.
