One of the Sungold’s ripened, and is now history. It was delicious. The Sungold easily lives up to its reputation. The Big Beef is coming along. If you look close, you will see there are actually 3. As of tonight, there are 11 on this particular plant. The Sweet 100 Cherry is loaded… This pepper is doing real [...] The snowpeas finally arrived all at once. From about 28 March until now, 80% of the growth took place. They seem to have exploded, and are already showing signs of stress. The heat is really tough on them. They are loaded up with sweet snowpeas, and I will enjoy them this week in salads. The [...] The Kholrabi bolted. The tops are edible as well as the cabbage like interior of the bottom globes. I’ll be harvesting soon. They sure look good. This is a close-up of the green pea tendril grabbing the string trellis. Here is a view of the carrots, peas, onions, turnips, kholrabi, and strawberries. The record cold wave in the first half of January took about 33% of the lettuce. I spent some time removing ruined leaves and getting the straw off the surviving lettuce. Lettuce hates wet soil and straw as much as the cold. We had lots of rain yesterday. The survivors should help provide many salads [...] |
